S.P.E.W. is more than a band. It is a loud, sarcastic, hopeful reminder that we all share one planet, one future, and the responsibility to leave both better than we found them. Born from the unlikely partnership of Moxie and LeeRoy, S.P.E.W. grew into an eclectic collection of musicians who look like cartoon creatures but sing about very real problems. The lineup includes a business-suited fox bassist, Moxie. A barefoot lynx, LeeRoy. An octopus drummer with psychedelic skin, Robby. Electric charged twin squirrel keyboardists, Jinx and Vex. A fruit bat who hangs upside down while playing wind instruments, Ozzy. And the long-suffering bobcat who somehow keeps the entire operation running, Mitchel. Musically, S.P.E.W. refuses to stay in one lane. Punk is our foundation, but everyone should hear our message - not the other way around. These messages pull no punches. Our songs challenge endless consumerism, environmental destruction, corruption, political apathy, healthcare, inequality, social media addiction, war, and blind obedience. Yet beneath the sarcasm and profanity lies an unmistakable optimism: people can still choose kindness, curiosity, responsibility, and community. The world changes when ordinary people decide to change it. S.P.E.W. does not claim to have all the answers. Instead we ask uncomfortable questions, celebrate independent thinking, encourage people to read more, spend time outdoors, help their neighbors, laugh at the absurdity of modern life, and never stop questioning anyone who tells them to stop thinking for themselves. Every performance is part protest rally, part comedy show, part neighborhood block party, and part therapy session - with loud guitars, unforgettable characters, and enough energy to power a city. If you’ve ever looked around and thought, “There has to be a better way,” you’ve already got one foot in the S.P.E.W. Crew. Welcome aboard.
